The following paragraphs are submitted for information only, having been dealt with under the powers delegated to the Panel.
945 APPLICATION FOR LATE HOURS CATERING LICENCE - 945
WONG'S CHINESE TAKE AWAY, 84 INVERKIP ROAD, GREENOCK
SUBMITTED: Report dated 25 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Late Hours Catering Licence by Natasha Wong to allow the operation of a hot food takeaway between the hours of 11.00 pm and 12 midnight daily at the premises known as Wong's Chinese Take Away, 84 Inverkip Road, Greenock.
DECIDED: That the application be granted.
946 APPLICATION FOR LATE HOURS CATERING LICENCE - 946
BUYRITE, 13 GREY PLACE, GREENOCK
SUBMITTED: Report dated 25 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Late Hours Catering Licence by Azmat Begum to allow the operation of a hot food takeaway between the hours of 11.00 pm and 1.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays and between 11.00 pm and 12.30 am on Sundays to Thursdays at the premises known as Buyrite, 13 Grey Place, Greenock. A letter of objection to this application had been received from Neill Clerk & Murray, Solicitors, on behalf of their client Zulfiquar Ahmed and was considered by the Panel. The Panel heard Mr Tomlinson, agent for the objector, and Mr Buchanan, agent for the applicant.
DECIDED: That the application be granted subject to the Council's standard conditions together with conditions to be determined by the Director of Central Services, in consultation with the Executive Director Legal, Information & Support Services, to ensure compliance with the current planning permission for the premises.
947 RESOLUTION: EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS 947
On the motion of the Convener it was agreed unanimously that, in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the undernoted items of business on the grounds that consideration of the items involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 6 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.
948 APPLICATION FOR TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE: COLIN WATT 948
SUBMITTED: Report dated 4 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Colin Watt following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of matters arising from his previous convictions. The report also indicated that Mr Watt could not be contacted following his change of address.
DECIDED: That the application be refused.
949 APPLICATION FOR TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE: EDWARD B GUILLER 949
SUBMITTED: Report dated 20 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Edward Guiller following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions. The Panel heard Chief Superintendent Runcie and Mr Ward, agent for the applicant.
Following discussion, Councillor Nimmo moved that the application be refused. As an amendment, Councillor Roach moved that the application be granted. On a vote, 1 Member voted for the amendment and 4 for the motion which was declared carried.
DECIDED: That the application be refused.
950 APPLICATION FOR TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE: JOSEPH CUMMINGS 950
SUBMITTED: Report dated 26 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Joseph Cummings following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions. The Panel heard Chief Superintendent Runcie and Mr Ward, agent for the applicant.
DECIDED: That the application be granted.
951 APPLICATION FOR TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE: BRIAN MORRISON 951
SUBMITTED: Report dated 26 August 1998 by the Director of Central Services on an application for a Taxi Driver's Licence by Brian Morrison following an objection by the Chief Constable that the applicant is not a fit and proper person to hold such a licence by virtue of his previous convictions. The Panel heard Chief Superintendent Runcie and Mr Morrison in support of his application.
DECIDED: That the application be refused.
