SUBMITTED: Report dated 14 July 1997 by
the Director of Property & Technical Services on the progress of current
projects and detailing variations to projects which require approval in terms
of the Council’s Financial Regulations.
DECIDED:
(a) That the contents of the
report be noted; and
(b) That the Committee approve

SUBMITTED: Report dated 15 July 1997 by
the Director of Finance detailing the financial position of current and
proposed projects included in the 1997/98 Capital Programme.
DECIDED:
(a) That the contents of the
report be noted; and
(b) That the Policy and
Strategy Committee be requested to approve the increase of £87,000 in respect
of the Leisure & Cultural Services Capital Programme.

SUBMITTED: Report dated 8 July 1997 by
the Director of Leisure & Recreation advising that the sum of £18,225 was
required for the provision of playschemes for five to eight year old children
and outlined the action taken under Standing Order 66 to use £14,000 towards
the

cost of the playschemes which
would have been the cost of the Council’s involvement in the Ayr Flower Show.
DECIDED: That the content of the
report be noted and that the Director of Leisure & Recreation m
consultation with the Director of Finance determine ways in which to find the
balance of £4,225.

GP REFERRAL SCHEME: INVERCLYDE 805
SUBMITTED: Report dated 9 July 1997 by
the Director of Leisure & Recreation advising of the introduction of a GP
Referral Scheme in conjunction with Argyll & Bute Health Board in which
local GPs refer patients whose health will benefit by regular exercise and
health education to leisure facilities in the district.
DECIDED: That the introduction of the
GP Referral Scheme be approved and that it be remitted to the Director of
Leisure & Recreation to submit a report to the Committee following one
year’s operation of the scheme.

the Director of Leisure & Recreation advising of the ground maintenance
contractor’s performance in general terms, to identify the present ongoing
works and to forecast items which will be addressed in the coming months.

it was agreed unanimously that in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the public

the Director of Leisure & Recreation advising of the financial implications
of the delayed opening of the Waterfront Complex.

the Director of Leisure & Recreation outlining the
present position at the
Waterfront Leisure Complex.
The Director also orally
advised that arrangements would be made for Councillors and
Officers to visit the premises
on a suitable date in August.

LEISURE COMPLEX: EQUIPMENT PURCHASES 811
SUBMITTED: Reports dated 7 and 22 July
1997 by the Director of Leisure & Recreation advising that authority had
been obtained under Standing Order 66 to purchase fitness equipment, furniture
and curling equipment, kiddies pool equipment and a call out system. The report
also requested approval to invite and accept tenders from suppliers and
contractors of specialist equipment and services including persons who are not
currently on the Approved Contractors List but are to be asked to tender in connection
with the fitting out and equipping of the Greenock Waterfront Leisure Complex.
DECIDED:
(a) That the contents of the
report be noted in respect of the action taken in terms of Standing Order 66;
(b) That the companies named
in paragraph 3.2 of the report be allowed to submit tenders for the supply of
specialist services and equipment where required; and
(c) That authority be
delegated to the Director of Central Services in consultation with the Convener
and Vice-Convener of the Committee and a Member of the Minority Groups to
accept the lowest tender in respect of the supply of specialist equipment and services
outlined in paragraph 3.2 of the report.

SUBMITTED: Report by the Director of
Leisure & Recreation advising of the number of users and associated income
for facilities run under the Leisure Management Contract within the Department
of Leisure & Recreation for the period to 1 June 1997.
