APPROVED on the motion of Councillor Jackson seconded by Councillor Robertson (Y) subject to correction at paragraph 71(b) by the deletion of the words "a general policy" and the substitution therefor of the words "specific proposals."

Approval of the minute as a correct record was moved by Councillor Robertson (Y) seconded by Councillor Welch.

Councillor Robertson (Y) seconded by Councillor Welch moved with reference to paragraph 76 (Primary Provision in Gourock:  Further Consultative Exercise) that the decision of the Committee as minuted be approved.  As an amendment, Councillor Campbell seconded by Councillor Hunter moved with reference to paragraph 76 that the proposals listed in the decision be issued for consultation to all interested parties in terms of the Education (Publication of Consultation, etc) (Scotland) Regulations 1981 with the addition that the alternative proposals in the Liberal Democrat motion at the Education Services Committee meeting (i) that Gourock Primary School be replaced by a new building with a planning capacity of 330 pupils, (ii) that the site of the new Gourock Primary School be within the lower Gourock Park and (iii) that the delineated area of Moorfoot Primary School be amended to include the George Road area and the Arran View complex be included as an option on the document to be issued for consultation.  On a vote, 7 Members voted for the amendment and 11 for the motion which was declared carried.
DECIDED:  That the minute be approved.

APPROVED on the motion of Councillor McGhee seconded by Councillor Roach subject to correction of the decision at paragraph 90(b) (Assessment of Pedestrian Crossings) to read as follows:-  "That the use of the PV2 formula as part of the criteria for the initial assessment of proposed pedestrian crossings be approved".

APPROVED on the motion of Councillor Clocherty seconded by Councillor Welch subject to the suspension of the relevant Standing Order in respect of paragraph 110 (Hector McNeil Baths - Proposed New Arrangements) to allow alteration of the previous decision by the Committee at its meeting on 16 September 1997 (paragraph 1025).

   156      PETER STANTON MEMORIAL TRUST:  APPOINTMENT OF OUTSIDE TRUSTEES                    156

 

SUBMITTED:  Report by the Director of Central Services advising that nominations had been sought from disabled groups within Inverclyde with a view to the appointment of 3 Outside Trustees on the Peter Stanton Memorial Trust to serve on the Trust until its annual meeting in February 2002.

DECIDED:  That the following persons be appointed as Outside Trustees on the Peter Stanton Memorial Trust until February 2002:-

Mr Robert T E McCaughey, 225 Eldon Street, Greenock

Mrs S W Stanton, 27 Methil Road, Port Glasgow

Mrs E L Gowans, 38 Divert Road, Gourock.

 

   157      RESOLUTION:  EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS                                                                    157

 

On the motion of the Provost it was agreed unanimously that, in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the public and press be excluded from the remainder of the meeting on the grounds that consideration of the remaining items involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the respective paragraphs of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act, the nature of which is set out in the Minute of the Committee which considered each respective item in the Appendix to the Minute.
