Mr Harry Mulholland

Prior to commencement of business, Provost Rebecchi referred to the recent death of former Councillor and Provost, Harry Mulholland.  Provost Rebecchi paid tribute to Mr Mulholland’s years of service to Greenock Corporation, Inverclyde District Council and Inverclyde Council and on behalf of the Members and Officers present expressed his sincere condolences to his widow and family.

Cleaning of Common Property: Byelaws

There was submitted a report by the Director of Social Work & Housing Services (1) on proposed byelaws for the regulation of the cleaning of common property and (2) seeking approval to submit the byelaws to the Scottish Ministers for confirmation.

 

 

Decided:

(1)   that The Inverclyde Council be asked to approve the promotion of byelaws for the regulation of the cleaning of common property as detailed in the Appendix to the report;

(2)   that it be remitted to the appropriate Officers to advertise the byelaws in accordance with the relevant legislation and thereafter to submit the byelaws for confirmation to the Scottish Executive; and

(3)   that it be remitted to the Director of Social Work & Housing Services to report to the Committee once the byelaws have been in operation for a period of six months.

 

 

It was agreed in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as amended, that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following items on the grounds that the business involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in the respective paragraphs of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act as are set opposite each item.

There was submitted a report by the Director of Social Work & Housing Services and Depute Chief Executive on the reasons for the additional costs incurred relative to the Housing Management Information System (HMIS) project as reported to the Committee on 3 June 2003.

Wallace Place Refurbishment

There was submitted a report dated 19 June 2003 by the Chief Executive on the position in respect of the tenders received for the Wallace Place refurbishment.

 

 

Decided:  that it be remitted to the Director of Legal & Support Services to accept the lowest tender received, that by Laidlaw Scott Ltd in the corrected sum of £239,818.58.
