Personal Licence Application
A person of 18 years and over can apply to become a Personal Licence Holder.
The applicant must have undergone the required training and hold a current Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders in order to apply for a licence.
This licence is required to be held by a named premises manager. It also permits the holder to provide staff training for persons selling or serving alcohol e.g. bar staff, waitress, checkout assistants.
You must apply to renew your Personal Licence every ten years and submit the renewal application no later than 3 months before the expiry date of the licence. You must also sit a refresher training course every five years. In line with Scottish Government guidance, the Inverclyde Licensing Board is happy to deal with both requirements together. The earliest you can apply is 9 months prior to the three month deadline. Applications MUST be submitted with an updated refresher training certificate and you should ensure that you have completed the appropriate course in plenty of time to submit your application within the timescales.
Failure to adhere to these timescales may result in your Personal Licence expiring on the expiry date and shall cease to have effect. If your Personal Licence has expired you will need to submit a new licence application.
The Scottish Government has published a Personal Licence Holder Communications Document on their website, a link to which is provided. The Licensing Board will process applications in line with the Government’s recommended approach.
The application form can be downloaded from the Documents Section of this page.
