Residential and Nursing Care
Residential and Nursing Care
If your care and support needs cannot be met at home or in supported housing then a care home placement may be a more suitable option for you.
Choosing a Care Home
An assessment of your care needs is required to assist you in making this important decision. You may need a care home if all the options that might assist you to stay in your own home have been considered and a care home is still the best option to meet your assessed care needs.
This could include extra home support, equipment or home adaptations and respite or short breaks.
Your allocated worker from the HSCP can help you to find a care home whether or not you plan to fund your own place. They will be able to provide you with a list of care homes that are suitable for your assessed needs and may also assist you in arranging a trial visit to a care home that you are considering.
The decision of which home you choose is one you and your family or carer make. There are a wide range of organisations which can also support you and there are links to some of them on this page. We have also uploaded the guidance on choosing a care home from the Scottish Government listed under documents on this page.
Inverclyde HSCP does not have any Local Authority Residential or Nursing Care Homes. The HSCP contracts with a variety of Voluntary and Private providers to supply Care Homes locally. At present there are 11 Nursing Homes and 4 Residential Care Homes locally.
Care homes within Inverclyde are listed in the document called Inverclyde Care Homes Feb 15, in the Documents section on this page. You can also access this information through the Inverclyde Directory of Services and the Care Inspectorate website.
