Equalities in Employment

The Council's commitment to equalities underpins every aspect of our work to make Inverclyde a better place for all who live, work or learn in it.

As a key employer in the area we recognise that a diverse workforce, coming from all sections of the community, offering differing skills, experiences, backgrounds and cultures will result in an organisation that is better able to respond to the needs of our customers and service users. We also recognise that many people face different barriers to employment and, as a major public sector employer, we have a responsibility to address these barriers.

The Council are committed to building a workforce which broadly reflects the diversity of our community and seek to celebrate this diversity with other partner agencies, organisations and community groups.

We are opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination and harassment and aim to provide services and employment in a way that promotes equality, values diversity and celebrates excellence.
