Equality Impact Assessments 2015

Our policies need to reflect equality and diversity within our community recognising that different people have different needs.

Equality impact assessment :

  • helps the Council to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between groups

  • ensures the Council combats direct and indirect discrimination

  • enables the Council to mainstream principles of Equality and Diversity into our everyday work

  • increases confidence in the Council’s services

  • promotes the development of customer - led services

  • encourages greater openness about decision-making

  • improves the overall work of the Council, by ensuring that policies are planned and researched

The equality impact assessment process focuses on people within our community who are at risk from discrimination and social exclusion. People within the protected characteristic groups are at particular risk from discrimination and social exclusion.
